Pam Squire was my best friend in third grade. She lived on Elon Court and had a huge swimming pool in her back yard. Her grandmother was called Nana. She got chicken legs for lunch instead of peanut butter and jelly or bologna the way I did. I thought she was amazing. Her hair was so beautifully straight and thick. She got to avoid going to the doctor because her family was Christian Scientist and she told me what her dad told her: "if God can't cure it, man can't cure it". I tried using that on my folks when it was time for a shot at the doctor's, but they didn't buy it. We played Barbies together quite often, and I think we never got tired of it. Also, Pam might have been the first girl in our class to sneak frosted lipstick onto her lips at a later date. Very pale. Probably Yardley slicker. So sad to hear she has passed. She was delightful and taught me a lot!
